Wait Until 8th

As part of the SCPN, the Wait Until 8th initiative encourages families to delay giving their child a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade. Research increasingly shows that delaying smartphone use enhances social relationships, cognitive skills, sleep, academic performance and mental health. 

In saying “no” to smartphones for our kids, we are saying a resounding “yes” to a healthier childhood. Making this decision by signing the pledge together at SJB ensures community support. Look for the opportunity to sign the pledge in August at the start every school year. Families who have already signed the pledge for their student do not need to re-sign each year.
