The Boy Scouts of America, Troop 330
is part of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church's youth ministry from fifth grade until the youth is 18 years of age. Boy Scouts of America is one of the Nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. Character Education
is a teacher run group that focuses on building the character of our SJB students. All students will participate in activities that encourage them to become more Christ-like. Some of the many activities sponsored by Character Ed include Student of the Quarter, collecting donations for Haiti and Catholic Charities, the Canned Food Drive, The Riley Walk and Trunk or Treat at Halloween. Choir
is open for grades 5 thru 8. Choir members lead the music at all liturgies. Performances include the Christmas program and graduation. Cub Scout Pack 330
is open to boys in grades 1 thru 5. In Cub Scouting, boys and their families have fun and adventure in a program that builds character and instills values. Math Bowl
is a state sponsored math competition open to students in grades four to six. Practices begin after school in January. The competition is a one evening event in which our team competes against other schools from the diocese. We are looking forward to a successful season this year! Math Olympiad
is open to middle school students. It provides opportunities for those students needing additional challenges in mathematics and problem solving. Students meet weekly during SRT time to practice skills. They compete in five monthly contests from November through March, and their scores earn them rankings both at the school level and national level. School Play/ Musical

SeaPerch
is an opportunity for 7 th
and 8 th
grade students to build remote-controlled underwater robots. This process includes assembling a kit that challenges the students' critical thinking and problem solving skills. In addition, students will be exposed to soldering and drilling. Students will then join other teams in competition maneuvering their robots through an underwater obstacle course. Speech Team
is open to all sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Practices will begin the last week of August and continue thru October. Students are required to attend one speech practice per week. There will be four speech meets and the tournament in October and November. Parents are needed to serve as drivers, practice coaches, and judges (you will be trained by the league). Parents are responsible for making sure that their child will have a ride home from all afterschool practices and meets. The speech team at St. John’s is well known for its excellence. Spell Bowl
is open to students in grades four, five and six. Students practice after school and/or before school one day a week from August through November and practice the spellings on a list of 750 words. TEENPOWER
is a student led group dedicated to leadership development, community service, preventing drug and alcohol use and promoting a healthy school environment. The group is open to students in seventh and eighth grade. To join the group students must complete an application at the end of their sixth or seventh grade year. Walking Program
