St. John the Baptist PTSA's objective is to develop a closer relationship between home and the school, that the parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of the child, and to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for every child the highest advantage in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education. The disbursements of all profits earned by PTSA fundraising efforts shall be voted on by Membership at the regular quarterly meetings, keeping in mind stated objective of this Association as mentioned above.
- PTSA Meetings:
Attendance at a PTSA meeting is a sign of parental interest in and support for the parish school and education of your child. Upcoming PTSA Meetings are announced in advance so that all can plan accordingly in order to attend. - What does PTSA fund?
PTSA funds computer programs for the students (such as STAR, AR, IXL, etc), the SJB library books and supplies, computer streaming for the school, school nursing supplies, professional development workshops for our teachers, teacher stipends (every year we give startup money for classroom supplies to each teacher), music equipment, etc. - Some of the bigger projects PTSA has funded include:
Remodeling the library, remodeling the junior high bathroom, upgrading air conditioner units, SMART boards for teacher classrooms, buying the first round of iPads for the school, upgrading laptops for the teacher classrooms, and much much more! We were the driving force towards buying new playground equipment and rubberized flooring which was installed during Summer 2016.
The newly renovated outdoor classroom is very popular and loved by students and staff. The renovated Science Lab is a place that allows for learning and a love of science to take place.
